Transportation
Transportation will be furnished by the school district to all sponsored and approved activities in which students participate. Students must ride the school transportation to and from the activity. One exception is where a parent personally takes his/her student from a school activity after personally clearing with the coach or advisor. Coaches may also choose to require the after activity releases of a student in writing by the parents. Students CANNOT be released to anyone who is not there parent or guardian. This includes written releases.
At least one coach or staff advisor must ride each student bus.. The pupil loading parameters for our district vehicles are.
Mini Vans = 6 students, 1 driving adult.
White Van = 9 students, 1 driving adult
Buses = 54 adults (including any coaches/advisors).
Busses and vans will be scheduled by the athletic director. Each sport has a sport specific warm-up time that will be factored in to travel plans. Departure times are calculated factoring; warm-up and travel times, keeping in mind that students should remain in class as long as possible. School dismissal at the host school is also factored, in most cases our teams will not arrive at host schools prior to the end of their school day. Students are dismissed from class no sooner than 15 minutes before departure.
Multi-day events a short to moderate distance away shall use First Student or van transportation to and from the event. Lodging may be required depending on the schedule of events. The decision to stay overnight will be at the discretion to the advisor and administration. With final approval coming from the school district.
In the case that the event is a multi-day event a great distance away. A First Student bus will be taken and lodging will be paid for out of the sports team’s budget. Single game events a a great distance away will use a regional carrier with travel occurring the same day as the event.
