Coaching Certification
All coaches, including paraprofessionals, must be certified and their names placed on the cactus program with the state or that sport will be fined $300 per coach from the UHSAA. Certification must be completed within one year. Coaches who do not certify within the one year period will not be permitted to coach after the one year grace period.
Concussion Certification
All coach are required to complete the National Federation “Concussion in Sports – What You Need To Know” course. The course is found online and is free. Directions about accessing the course are found in Appendix C. The course takes approximately 30 minutes. When the course is completed the coach is required to give a copy of the certificate of completion to the athletic director.
According to Utah State law effective July 1, 2011; all coaches and advisors are required to have a current concussion training certificate on file at the school at which they coach.
