Keys and Securing the PE Building
Keys are to be secured at all times and kept in the possession of the person to which they were issued. Gym keys are available to coaches on staff and head paraprofessionals that use the gym for their particular sport. Exterior gate keys are available to coaches on staff who need field access. Paraprofessionals must return their keys at the end of their season. Exterior electronic keys (when and if they become available) to the main building are only available to high school staff.
Both gyms and the weight room are to be locked and secured at all times. The baskets in both gyms need to be up when you leave the gym with lights off and If you open an area, you are responsible for re-securing the entire building.
When entering the building after hours, it is the coaches responsibility to disarm the ealarm. When you leave the building after hours it is your responsibility to make certain that all exteranal doors are looked and secured. The alarm system must also be armed. There is a fee charged by the alarm company when there are after hour alarms. If the building is not properly disarmed or armed the responsible coach may be charged.
